Do's and Don'ts

The cooking, the durability, the style and finally the taste it gives, everything about cast iron skillet is simply awesome. So before you set to rock your culinary skills with our best range of cast iron skillet, we recommend you some do’s and don’ts with the cast iron products.

As soon as you get the product, slightly heat it, sprinkle salt on it and sauté until golden brown. Switch it off and once it cools, clean it with a cloth, apply a light coating of oil and store it.

You can use any type of metal or wooden utensils on the products, but make sure you do not press hard on it, as it may leave scratches on the product.

The seasoning on the pans has to be done occasionally to prevent the products from rusting. While using acidic/citrus foods such as tomatoes, lemons etc is fine, it is important to clean it off well as it may be a cause of rusting.

Cleaning of the pre seasoned cast iron products has to be done carefully. Use mild detergent/liquid wash and clean with soft scrubs, coconut fibre or cloth and dry it immediately. Also oil it little, to make it non sticky for the next usage.

Don’t throw your pan if it develops rust. Clean off all rust with a metal scouring pad or fine steel wool, and then wash the pan thoroughly using water, a soft brush, and a small amount of soap. Rinse and dry the pan immediately for the next usage.

With proper care and cleaning, pre seasoned cast-iron cookware can last 100 years or more. If you haven’t fallen in love with your cast-iron cookware yet, forget about the seasoning and cleaning challenges and just start cooking. It’s really hard to mess up a good cast-iron skillet product. Scrubbing and re-seasoning would enhance the durability of the product all the more and can almost always give cast-iron cookware a new life and provide a second chance for cooks who are just getting to know their cookware.
